On opening the curtains this morning, the sun of yesterday had disappeared but at least there was no rain on the horizon. Energy levels were boosted by the fresh-faced Miss Parrot and Mrs Paterson who were eager to tackle their first activity after their arrival last night.
With routines in place, we sped through breakfast and were ready and waiting for our instructors. After a week of practising, we amazed them with how quickly we could put on our harnesses for abseiling, zip wire and high ropes. Children completed their last two activities with their usual enthusiasm and determination - it has been amazing to see how much the children have developed and grown in confidence over the last few days.
They have pushed themselves out of their comfort zone to tackle activities that they never thought they would be able to do and they have supported each other continually along the way.
On their return, the children bid their instructors farewell and toured the drying rooms to collect any odd items of clothing before packing up their cases. After a final evening meal in the canteen, the children were entertained by Mrs Pinborough’s annual bingo and then settled down to a slideshow of the week’s photos.
It was great for all the children to see what all the other groups had been getting up to and despite the tired and sleepy eyes, it just reminded us of what an amazing week we have had. We’ll end tonight’s instalment on our quote of the day: ‘Can we stay another week?’
