After a smooth journey, we arrived to bright sunshine and a warm welcome from the Aylmerton staff.
A quick lunch and room allocation was followed by an afternoon of gemstone hunting and rock pool exploration on West Runton beach. There were a few strange sites though! Eric and Sven, time travellers from the year 866AD were keen to trade with us and to tell us about their long journey across the North Sea!
Back at the centre and with a hearty meal inside us, we later ventured out into the darkness for our walk through woods and across fields to the church. And what a night it was! The heavens put on a magnificent display - we even spotted a few shooting stars!
Though it was very quiet and peaceful, the local bats were active and we were able to listen to them using the bat detector. The ghostly white shapes of a family of swans graced the lake.
On our return, it was hot chocolate and a biscuit before bed and the promise of another exciting day ahead.
